Fresh Produce and Higher Education Counseling

A dozen of people attended this year’s opening day last Wednesday, June 22nd at our new location on 2308 Annapolis Rd. People gathered and met with vendors selling fresh produce, from Barefoot Farm and YOLO Farm to Baltimore Free Farm among others. We also had folks from Baltimore County Community College come in to talk to young children and families about their programming. As attendees started coming in, raffle tickets were given to folks who were interested in winning market bags full of fresh goodies!

Grey Feathers and Hoola Hoops

Attendees were also welcomed by the market’s official mascot, an African grey parrot named Gandalf. There was definitely good energy among our folks throughout the market! While some took pictures and got friendly with Gandalf, other young kids played with the team of Baltimore Hoop Love in the middle of the field.

Special Shout Outs

We want to especially thank Brooke E. Lierman from The Maryland House of Delegates and Luis Boruda, Deputy Secretary of State for showing up and talking with community members. Westport Market is grateful for the support provided to this project!

Market’s Closing Moment: Giveaways!

Community members, vendors and the market team gathered to announce this year’s raffle winners. A young boy, a man and a woman received a bag filled with vegetables, garlic, eggs as well as a Barnes and Noble gift cards, fruits and program brochures from BCCC.
